Our online certification course is great for those with busy schedules – you can complete it at your own pace, get 1-on-1 feedback with an instructor via Zoom. Everything from the practical exams to the lecture materials are completed and arranged by you based on your schedule! 

Once you submit your registration, you are given access to the course materials right away and have 60 days to complete the course.

Providers eligible for Astym Certification include: ATCs, COTAs, DCs, DOs, MDs, OTs, PTs, and PTAs. If you don’t see your qualifications listed or you are in the military, please contact us about certification eligibility.

Yes. Along with online lectures and interactive labs, you will have live practical exams with Astym master clinicians. These exams are your opportunity to get personalized, one-on-one feedback from an instructor.

Here’s what you need to have:

• A healthy volunteer to receive Astym treatments
• Laptop or desktop computer
• High-speed internet connection
• High-resolution webcam (adjustable, if possible)
• Treatment table
• 2 clean towels
• 2 clean pillows
• Roll of paper towels
• Disinfectant wipes
• Foam roller (optional, but recommended)

Here’s what you get in your Astym Starter Kit:

• Set of Astym instruments
• Emollient
• Astym t-shirt
• “Astym Certified” Window Cling

You need a healthy volunteer to receive Astym therapy as you learn and practice throughout the online course. Your volunteer must:

• Consent to receive Astym therapy
• Be generally healthy
• Not have bleeding disorders or other conditions
• Not be pregnant

You do not need to use the same volunteer throughout your online certification, as long as all your volunteers meet the requirements above. If you are taking the online course with another clinician, you can be each others’ volunteers and schedule your practical exams together.

Once you start your online certification course, you have 60 days to complete all the lectures, labs, and practical exams.

Online course schedule:

• Upper Extremity Pre-Lab Lectures | 8 hrs
• Upper Extremity Labs | 8.5 hrs
• Clinical Lectures | 3.25 hrs
• Lower Extremity Pre-Lab Lectures | 3 hrs
• Lower Extremity Labs | 5.25 hrs

Participants will receive instruments in their Starter Kit if elected on their registration.

You may have a balance due after your initial payment of $995. As an individual clinician you can choose to pay the remaining balance all at once or in monthly installments.

You will receive an invoice based on the payment options you choose. Invoices can be paid online at astym.com/pay, over the phone: (765) 751-2341, or mailed to 400 North High Street, Suite 320 Muncie, IN 47305.

If you register as a part of a corporation/association plan, an Astym team member will contact you or your clinic about payment options.

The online certification course is eligible for 28 contact hours of continuing education for PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, and ATCs. OTs and COTAs that choose to only take the upper extremity are eligible for 19.75 contact hours of continuing education. Upon completion of the course requirements, each attendee receives documentation of certification, including the number of contact hours earned and any other relevant continuing education information. 

This course is approved by the AOTA, the BOC, the Texas Physical Therapy Association, the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board, and the Florida Board of Physical Therapy. If needed, we can provide you with the required documentation to submit for individual approval with your licensing board. This course is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 28 Category A hours/CEUs.
